when we have large trash items in our office, we just stick a post it that says "basura" on it for the spanish-speaking maintenance staff to take care of. i think this is weird.

today has been a day totally lost in translation. this morning, p.c. (pre-coffee) i spent at least a half-hour trying to translate the word "barrel" (as in, "i need you to open those barrels for me") to one of our salvadorian job site managers. wow. i know a lot of conversational spanish and a lot of vocabulary, just not construction vocabulary. turns out it's the same in spanish & english. you say it with a spanish accent: barrrrrel.
